Good Afternoon West Islip Families,

I am so proud to launch this Artificial Intelligence (AI) Vision Statement video here in West Islip. Please click below to see the work that is being done in this area across our district:



Thank you to Dr. Kiley-Rendon, Executive Director of Technology & Innovation, for his leadership in this work. In addition, thank you to our amazing students and staff that made the video possible, and to our Technology Committee for their creation and continuous refinement of our vision statement, which can be found here:

Lighting Up a Lesson with LEGO

Fifth graders in Mr. DeMaio’s class thumbnail264815

Fifth graders in Mr. DeMaio’s class at Bayview Elementary School were recently presented with a LEGO challenge. The students were tasked with creating a lamppost that would turn on during nighttime hours. They determined how many hours the light would need to remain on based on the average daytime hours in March. The fifth graders then coded a program to operate the lamppost based on the hours they calculated. The challenge was helpful in connecting to their science curriculum on space units.

Artists on Display at Flowerfields

Congratulations to Julianne Hall and Alesia Bharat, West Islip High School ninth grade artists, who had their artwork selected for the Atelier at Flowerfields fourth annual Student Juried Art Show!  Their work will be displayed during March at the Altier's 2,000-square-foot gallery for all to enjoy. Congratulating these accomplished artists are Kristen Caulfield, art teacher and Andrew O’Farrell, principal.

Fire Alarm System Replacements at Beach St. Middle School and Paul J. Bellew Elementary School

The announcement for this bid will appear in the Islip Bulletin and Newsday on Thursday, March 13, 2025. 

This bid must be received at the West Islip District office no later than Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 11 AM.
