The high school’s robotics team participated and competed in the regional FIRST Robotics Competition at Hofstra University on March 25 and 26. The team advanced to the quarter finals.
Junior Christopher Palazzo earned the prestigious FIRST Dean’s List finalist award. Students who earn this award are recognized as student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increase awareness forFIRSTand its mission while also achieving personal technical expertise and accomplishment. Christopher was nominated by his team. The nomination process included the completion of five separate essays to attest to meeting the philosophies of theFIRSTcore values of: discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork and fun. The subsequent four essays supported hiseagerness to increase awareness forFIRST, technical expertise, individual contribution to the team and leadership role withteam members. Studentnomineesmust also demonstrate academic excellence. Christopher was selected to beinterviewed by judges at the competition.
